The Church of God in Christ in Kentucky traces its origins back to the early 19th century, following the 1906 Azusa Street revival in Los Angeles, California. During these initial years, the message of the church spread throughout several southern states, including Kentucky. Temporary overseers were assigned to manage the newly established sanctified churches and congregations in various states.
In the 1920s, Overseer R. R. Booker played a crucial role in organizing the churches in Kentucky. Additionally, he served as the Overseer for Missouri and Indiana. By the mid-1920s, approximately 12 churches in Kentucky operated under his administration.
Presently, Kentucky First Jurisdiction boasts thirty (30) churches across five (5) Districts within the state of Kentucky.
